Charles B. Staats Memorial Foundation Scholarship

Let’s not forget about the amazing coaches who help Olympians push themselves to go for the gold! The Charles B. Staats Memorial Foundation Scholarship was created to acknowledge the importance of coaching in every swimmer's life. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, at least two years of coaching experience, a recommendation letter from a senior swim coach or community leader, and proof of acceptance to a four-year college. Applications are due around the end of May each year.

Discover Fitness Foundation Scholarships

Based in Houston, Texas, the Discover Fitness Foundation is a nonprofit that awards athletic scholarships to promote access to activities that increase fitness and gymnastic skills, reduce obesity, and meet special physical needs for elementary, middle, and high school students. Scholarships for applicants ages four to 18 with financial need are available in four areas, including Talent and Fitness Talent for gymnasts in levels 1–10 or elite Junior Olympics. Deadlines fall on May 15, August 15, and December 15 to coincide with gymnastic academy enrollment semesters. Though the Foundation works with a network of affiliate and partner gyms across the US, they encourage currently unaffiliated gyms to participate in their scholarship program, with a required minimum of three athletes applying from the same gym.

Team USA Fan Scholarship

CollegeXpress’s Summer Olympics Scholarship may have closed on July 31, but we found another way to earn free money for college just by being a fan. The Team USA Fan Scholarship from Bold.org offers $500 to one applicant who writes 200–600 words on their favorite US Olympian to cheer for and why. Any student at any education level with any GPA may apply; the only requirement is being a fan of Team USA. This scholarship has rolling deadlines on the first of each month until July 31—but you’ll have a greater chance of winning the earlier you apply.

High School Class of 2021

CollegeXpress has helped me with all aspects of applying for college. The website is extremely easy to navigate and gives access to so many resources. I was able to research all of the colleges I was interested in, find out any information I wished to know about, and keep them organized in a list. I've also been able to research scholarships and save them as resources for later. I've used many websites in my college and scholarship search, and CollegeXpress has by far been my favorite one to use.

CollegeXpress has helped me find scholarships for the colleges I applied to. It was very hard for me to find scholarships in the beginning that I was qualified for. My teachers recommended this website to find some, and not only did I find some scholarships but I also got to look into some schools I hadn’t heard of before. I was very happy to have discovered this website, especially with the coronavirus spreading all over as I can’t really go visit many colleges.

High School Class of 2023

Being a sophomore in high school, I never really worried about college. I thought it wasn't important to worry about until senior year. Through this program opportunity I came across, I realized how important it is to start looking at colleges early and start planning ahead. CollegeXpress has opened my eyes to what colleges require, what colleges are near me, and what they offer. The daily emails I get from CollegeXpress really help me look at the different options I have and what colleges I fit into. Without this website, I would not be taking the time out of my day to worry about what my future will be nor what opportunities I have. I could not be more grateful for such an amazing and useful website. It's thanks to CollegeXpress that not only me but my family now know how much potential I have in to getting into these colleges/universities that we thought were out of my reach.

My mother signed me up for a couple of scholarship contests through CollegeXpress. I was also able to do some research and compare the different schools on my list. I was able to see the graduation rates and different programs that helped me decide on Adelphi University. I will continue looking for some scholarships for my start in September.
